This is a rare manual gold coast parking meter most probably from the late 1970 s early 1980 s. These meters are no longer in operation on the Gold Coast and were superceded by an updated version of the manual meters which were in turn replaced by electronic meters. Needless to say these meters are as rare as cheap real estate on the Gold Coast. The top lock opens with any key or screwdriver, the bottom lock has no key but one could be purchased from a locksmith, it is currently unlocked so the coins can be retrieved. The coin door is heavy and sits in place without being locked. It can be used as a conversation piece on a bar, as a money box, as a unique gift or simply as a good investment for the future.
